Special Accommodations for Eligible Individuals

Special Accommodations for Eligible Individuals

Dear Students,
Please note the following procedures and deadlines regarding special accommodations for exams. Requests must be submitted on time and in accordance with the regulations below.

1. Extended Time – Hebrew Language

Students whose native language is not Hebrew and who wish to request extended time  for exams in Hebrew must submit a request through the student portal – Undergraduate Studies – Extended Time (He).
Requests may be submitted until the end of the third week of each semester.

2. Extended Time – Age (40 and above)

Active students aged 40 or older may request extended time in exams. A completed request form and a copy of the ID card (including appendix) must be attached.
Requests may be submitted by the end of the third week of each semester.

3. Extended Time – Medical Conditions

Requests must be submitted according to the guidelines of the Center for Student Counseling and Support.
Approvals are activated in the system 10 days after the approval date.
Requests must be submitted by the end of the third week of each semester.
Late approvals cannot be processed manually or immediately.
If more than 10 days have passed since receiving the approval letter and the accommodation does not appear in the Miskal system (the words “Extended Time” next to the exam room), please contact: hashgacha@technion.ac.il. You are required to include the following details in your email:

  • Full name
  • ID number
  • Course numbers
  • Exam dates
  • Official approval file

A signed consent form for the use of medical information may also be required including a waiver of medical confidentiality

4. Computer-Based Exam Accommodation

Exams are generally conducted on the student’s personal computer.
However, for courses offered by the Faculty of Mathematics, the exam must be conducted on a laptop provided by the Exams Division. Students must notify the lecturer and add hashgacha@technion.ac.il in CC to the email in order to arrange the necessary equipment. Exams taken on an iPad or laptop in these cases must be conducted using equipment provided exclusively by the Exams Division.

Only pre-approved software intended for mathematical and verbal writing may be used (Word, MathType, LyX). The personal laptop must be set to airplane mode, and answers must be typed using the software agreed upon between the lecturer and the student.

The method of submitting the exam must be coordinated with the lecturer no later than three days before the exam date, either by email submission or by printing through the supervision team. If the lecturer prefers a printed version, the supervision team will save the exam on a USB flash drive and print it at the end of the exam.

On the day of the exam, students must bring the official exam approval and present it to the supervision team. Students taking the exam on a computer are requested to sit in the last row of the classroom to enable proper monitoring of the computer and to minimize disturbance to other students.

5. Reserve Duty – Exam Postponements

Students who missed an exam due to reserve military service are entitled to an alternative solution (e.g., a rescheduled exam) for each missed exam, under the conditions outlined in the Reserve Duty regulations.
Requests may be submitted until the end of Moed B Period.

6. Extended Time – Learning Disabilities

For accommodations based on a learning disability or ADHD, students must submit a valid and recognized diagnosis.
The Technion accepts diagnostic evaluations only from the following institutions (even if a previous evaluation exists):

  • The National Institute for Testing and Evaluation (NITE / MATAL)
  • A neuropsychological evaluation from the Cognitive Neurology Unit at Rambam

These evaluations are conducted at the student’s own expense.

Referrals for diagnostic evaluations are provided through the Counseling and Support Unit (Ullman Building, room 460).
