Please note the changes that have been made in anticipation to the upcoming exam period.
1. Time Extensions for Exams in Hebrew
To request accommodations for exams in a language other than Hebrew, students must go through the portal: Student Requests in Undergraduate Studies – Time Extension – Hebrew. You may submit a request until the end of the 6th week of each semester.
2. Time Extensions Due to Medical Limitations
Deadline for submitting time extension requests: For the first and second exam dates (Moed A + B) of the 2022-2023 Spring Semester, until May 4, 2023 or by the end of the 6th week of each semester.
Requests must be submitted in accordance with the instructions provided by the Center for Counseling and Support.
Time extension approvals are only valid in the system for up to 10 days after approval is granted. In every semester, there are fixed deadlines for submitting time extension requests. It is not possible to manually and immediately process requests that are submitted after the deadline.
If you have received a time extension and more than 10 full days have passed since the day that you have received the letter of approval and you do not see the words “time extension” written next to the room number in the STUDENTS system, please contact us via email at hashgacha@technion.ac.il and provide the following information: name, ID#, course numbers as they appear in the system, exam dates, and the accommodation approval file.
3. Accommodations for Computer-Based Exams
These exams will take place on the student’s personal computer/laptop.
Only pre-approved software intended for mathematical and textual writing will be permitted (Word, MathType, Lyx).
Personal laptops must be in airplane mode and students are required to type their answers on the software agreed upon between the instructor and the student.
You are to coordinate with the instructor, up to 3 days before the exam, the manner by which to submit the exam on the day of the exam: via email or hardcopy (printed by the exam proctoring staff). If the instructor prefers a printed hardcopy, at the end of the exam, the proctor will save the exam on a portable device (USB) and print the exam from that saved copy.
On the day of the exam, please bring the exam accommodation approval and present it to the exam proctor.
Students taking the exam on a computer are asked to sit in the last row of the classroom as to allow the exam proctor to monitor the screen during the exam and to avoid disturbing the other students in the classroom.
4. Alternative Exam Dates for Reservists Due to Reserve Duty During the Originally Scheduled Exam Dates
Students who were absent from an exam due to reserve duty are entitled to receive an alternative option, such as taking the exam on a different date (for each exam date that they were not present for), in accordance with the conditions specified on the reserve duty page.
The window to submit a request for a special exam date due to reserve duty is open and the submission deadline is November 5, 2023.
5. Time Extensions Due to a Learning Disabilities
Students requesting accommodations on the basis of a learning disability or attention deficit disorder will be required to undergo an assessment, at their own expense, by a diagnostician acting on behalf of the Technion.
This requirement also applies to students who have previously received a diagnosis.
Referrals to the diagnostician are through the Center for Counseling and Support, located in the Ullman Building, Room 460.
