Procedure for Holidays of Ethnic Minority Group Members

(Updated in accordance with the decision of the Standing Committee for Academic Studies, as of May 5, 2019)

In each academic year, there will be two days (holiday days) that will be specified for each ethnic group (Muslim/Christian/Druze) during which the following exemptions will be granted:

  1. There will be no exams or quizzes held on those days.
  2. Students from the applicable ethnic group will be exempt from mandatory attendance in class sessions on those days, with the exception of activities that can be completed at a later date (such as: laboratories or physical education courses).
  3. On holiday eves, there will be no exams or quizzes from 16:30 onwards.

Muslims

  • One of the Eid al-Fitr days, usually the first or second day
  • One of the Eid al-Adha days, usually the first or second day

Christians

  • Christmas, according to the Gregorian calendar (Dec. 25th)
  • Easter Sunday, according to the Julian calendar

On New Year’s Day, in accordance with the Gregorian calendar, the following accommodations will be made: On Dec. 31st, there will be no exams or quizzes starting from 16:30; on Jan. 1st, there will be no exams or quizzes.

Druze

  • Ziyarat al-Nabi Shu’ayb
  • One of the Eid al-adha days, usually the first or second day (see above)
